home on November 5, 2013.
Born April 13, 1923 in Benton, she was the daughter of the late Grace and Roland
Moss.
Her husband, Wilson Edward Mahoney, passed away in 1988 to be present with the
Lord. Together, Wilson and Elsie were parents to Dennis and his wife, Roberta,
who passed away in 2007 of Sweet Valley; Daniel of Birmingham, AL; Thomas and
his wife, Marion, of Beaumont; Robert and his wife, Colette, of Sweet Valley;

Wayne, of Schenectady, NY; Rosanne Womer and her husband, Richard, of
Tunkhannock; Karen (Becky) Pugh and her husband, Bill, of Pinson, AL, and Pam
Mahoney-Casey and her husband, Chris, of Luzerne. In addition, Elsie was a
beloved grandmother to 25, great-grandmother to 31, and one great-great grand
child.
Surviving from her nine brothers and sisters are Harold and his wife, Ellie;

her husband, Marvin. Elsie was preceded in death by brothers Bob and Ralph

Elsie attended Back Mountain Harvest Assembly, Trucksville as well as The Living
Word Baptist Church in Red Rock. Her strong faith and belief in God saw her
through many difficulties throughout her life.
Although Elsie was not able to graduate from high school, she proudly received
her GED in her 70th decade. She was employed for many years at Country
Impressions in Sweet Valley in their advertising layout department and
volunteered at local radio station WRGN.
Having lived through the Great Depression, Elsie understood the value of hard
work and exampled a determined and indomitable spirit to all that knew her,
especially her children. A skilled and resourceful woman, she excelled in many
aspects of farming and raising a family. Her skills included the ability to
repair farm equipment, sew beautiful special-occasion and wedding dresses, and
harvest organic produce throughout the year to provide for her family. She
taught her children to give while making ends meet on very little. Having lived
the best life she knew how, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her and
loved her.
