Obituary of Henry Joseph Karpinski Jr.

Henry J. Karpinski, Jr., age 71 of Hunlock Creek, died peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Friday, September 20, 2024.
He was born in Nanticoke on December 7, 1952 and was the son of the late Henry Karpinski and Catherine Wusiewski.
Henry was educated in the Nanticoke Catholic and public schools and served in the US Marine Corps as a sergeant, earning an honorable discharge. He was employed as a sheet metal worker for Local Union # 44 and later retired from the Department of General Services as an Assistant Construction Project Manager. Henry was a member of the St. Faustina Parish Church in Nanticoke and was a life member of the American Legion Post 350 in Nanticoke. He was also a 25 year honorary member of the Nanticoke Conservation Club and was treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 418 in Nanticoke. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus of Assembly No. 925 in Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Michael Karpinski.
Henry is survived by his wife of 20 years, the former Doreen Boberick, who was the love of his life; son, Michael Hodgson and his wife Nicole of Berwick; and a little granddaughter, Madelynn Mae, whom he just adored.
He shared his love of the outdoors with his wife, son and two brothers-in-law, Jeffrey and Stephen Boberick.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 8:30 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am from St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, PA 18634, with Rev. Richard Fox, officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Henry received 2 kidney transplants during his life: first in 1991 and second in 2013. To keep his memory going, the family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or American Kidney Association, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
