Obituary of Cheryl Ann Patla

Cheryl Ann Patla, age 58 of Sweet Valley, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilkes-Barre on March 31, 1963 and was the daughter of Ida Martin Scott of Harveys Lake and the late Arthur Scott. Cheryl graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1981 and then married her husband Jim. She was a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and loved baking with her grandkids. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jim Patla; children, Amanda Matysik (Richard) of Sweet Valley, Stephen Patla (Jennifer) of Sweet Valley, Adam Patla of Sweet Valley and Katrina Pearson (Ryan) of Hunlock Creek; grandchildren, Hannah, Abby, Michael, Alexandra and Samuel; one very special, Derrick Lanning; siblings, Marty, Lola, Karen and Brad. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:30 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621 with Rev. Joseph R. Kakareka of Holy Family Parish, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am prior to the funeral services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Township.
