Obituary of Melissa Margaret Headman

Melissa Margaret Headman, age 39 of Noxen, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at her sister's home in Shavertown, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Noxen on September 3, 1981 and was the daughter of James and Laura Boston Russell. Melissa was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School Class of 1999. She was an avid EMT and Firefighter with the Noxen Ambulance and Volunteer Fire Company. Melissa was also an Activities Director with the former Mountainside Manor, Dallas. She was a Girl Scout leader, cheer coach, and loved to fish, kayak, and rescue animals. Melissa especially loved to pay a visit to Elk County, Benezette Township, PA to visit nature and see all the elk. She was most recently employed as a bus driver and cafeteria worker with the Lake-Lehman School District; jobs in which she took great pride and pleasure sharing her cheerful disposition and bringing light and joy to the children she served. In her free time, she loved to bake cakes for her children and granddaughter. Melissa was a loving mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by sister, Crystal Russell; maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Louise Boston; paternal grandparents, Willard and Carol Russell; and father-in-law, Roger Knight. In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jonathan Headman, Sr.; daughters, Morgan Headman of Noxen and Jackie Morgan and husband Eric of Lake Silkworth; son, Jonny Headman, Jr. and wife Desirae of Noxen; granddaughter, Kylie Morgan; sisters, Cherie Lasinski and husband Dan of Shavertown, Jennifer Henninger and husband Shawn, Sr. of Dallas, Alora Russell and her significant other, Joey Larusso of Noxen; nieces, Madison and Mackenzie; nephews, Shawn, Jr., William, and Gabriel; mother-in-law, Sally Knight; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held May 27, 2021 at 7:00 PM from the Noxen Volunteer Fire Company, 3493 Stull Road, Noxen, PA 18636. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. Memorial Donations in Melissa's name can be made to the Noxen Community Ambulance Association, 142 Elizabeth Street, Noxen, PA 18636.
