Obituary of Shirley Mae Dunbar

Shirley Mae (Jennings) Dunbar, age 74 of Kingston, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., PA. She was born in Wilkes-Barre on January 18, 1947 and was the daughter of the late William John and Mildred Phillips Jennings. Shirley graduated from Lake-Lehman High School, class of 1964. She was employed by Jones’ Pancakes, Harveys Lake and later Western and Southern Life Insurance Company. Shirley loved to knit, crochet, cross-stitch and hosted large dinners for her family. She was also a collector of porcelain dolls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Paul and William Dunbar; sister, Katherine Lockman; brothers, Richard Jennings and Allen “Tex” Kenneth Kidd. Shirley is survived by her former husband, Paul Dunbar; daughter, Paula Lutinski and her husband Christopher; sons, Timothy and Kenneth Dunbar; sisters, Judith Sprau and her husband Robert, Marilyn Roedel, Carolyn Fealy and her partner Michael Soha; brothers, William Jennings and Douglas Jennings and his wife Ann; daughters-in-law, Toni Jo Dunbar and Leslie “Scoob” Newell;16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek with Rev. Shawn Simchock, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, officiating. Friends may call February 27th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 at the Funeral Home.
