Obituary of Michael Meehan

Michael G. Meehan, age 69 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the North Penn Manor, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Wilkes-Barre on September 7, 1951 and was the son of the late John P. and Mabel Smith Meehan. Michael attended Wilkes-Barre School District and served in the US Navy as a Seaman. He retired from Wilkes-Barre Department of Public Works and was a member of Teamsters Union 401, Wilkes-Barre. He enjoyed cars, fishing, wood working, his dogs, and country western dancing. He was known to leave his mark wherever he went. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by son, John Partash; brothers, John Terry, and Paul Meehan; and sister, Laura Williams. He is survived by wife of 18 years, the former Marie White; sons, Michael Meehan and wife Kelly of Harveys Lake, Brian Meehan of Harveys Lake, Kevin Partash and wife DJ of Noxen, and David Partash of Kingston; daughter, Kimberly Smith and husband Robert of Wyoming; brother, Charles Meehan of Wilkes-Barre; sister, Susan Kinsman of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family from Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake with Rev. Daniel Toomey officiating. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 East Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at North Penn Manor for the compassionate and loving care given to their father.
