Obituary of Dale Lee Kocher

Dale Lee Kocher, age 89 of Edwardsville, passed away Monday, December 29, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He would have been 90 on January 2nd, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was born in Meeker, on January 2, 1931, and was raised in the Ruggles Section of Harveys Lake; and was the son of the late A. Rodell and Mable Hunter Kocher. Dale was employed as an independent over the road truck driver for 45 years; and had resided in Beaumont from 1973 until 2016, before moving to Edwardsville to be closer to his daughter, Rosemary. He entered into the United States Army at the young age of 17 where he served for 8 years in the US Constabulary in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Dale was a member of the Benton VFW Post 8317. In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Kocher; brothers, Derwood, Glen, Eugene, and Kenneth Kocher; and sisters, Meryl Wagner, Audrey Stogoski, Doris Smith, and Dolores Kocher. He is survived by daughters, Rosemary Standarowski of Edwardsville, Virginia Barba of Landsdale, and Janine Cobb of Plymouth; stepsons, Eugene Schooley of Kunkle and Daniel Schooley of Plains; stepdaughters, Doreen Hunter of Dallas, Brenda Younglood of Jenkins Township, and Nancy Ann Schooley of Beaumont; and 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. A private funeral service will follow with Pastor Rick Womer, Tunkhannock Assembly of God, officiating. Masks and social distancing will be enforced in order to comply with Covid restrictions.
