Obituary of Betty Mae Spencer
Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Spencer, 78, of Sorber Mountain, passed away at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
She was a graduate of Lake-Noxen High School and married her high school sweet heart, Fred. They were married for 45 years before his passing. They were the parents of 6 children, Belinda and husband Craig Yanchik, George, Donna and companion Frank Wozniak, Sharon and husband Greg Sorber, Beth and husband Rick Clemow, and Kari and companion Jason Jones.
She was a proud grammie to Brian Weaver and Fawn Kuback, Melissa and husband Eric Jarnot, Evonne Spencer and Ryan Walsh, Colleen Spencer and Keith St. Clair, Brandon Clemow, Andrew Weaver, Jason Jones, Jr., Bryn Jarnot, and Paisley and Harper Spencer. She is survived by brothers, John "Skip" and wife Mary Honeywell and Jeff and wife Joyce Honeywell; sister, Connie and husband Pat Burak; brother-in-laws, Donald and wife Linda Spencer and William and wife Sharon Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by parents, John and Faith "Polly" Honeywell; sister, Susan Honeywell; and daughter-in-law, Helen Spencer.
Betty's love and kindness were endless. In return she was loved by so many. She loved to do everything and anything, especially if it involved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her numerous family members and friends; including, camping, trips to the beach, Elk County, Cape May, Gettysburg, and Las Vegas, going to the casino, or just shopping and lunch. She enjoyed traveling, solving cryptoquote, puzzles, and lottery tickets.
She was a member of the Noxen United Methodist Charge, participated in their Woman's Society and Food Pantry. She was a caregiver at heart, and happiest when she was helping someone, so she volunteered at the Community Clothes Closet and Library.
Betty was previously employed at Weis Markets, Misercordia University, and Mercy Center; but her most impressive job was being a great mom and grammie. She was so proud of her family. She was so strong and an inspiration for so many when she beat a really tough battle with guillian barre syndrome after receiving the flu shot a year ago. We knew we were loved and she was loved in return. Now God has an angel and it is her time to be with him and watch over us. We will miss her today and forever.
A private graveside service will be in the Kocher Cemetery, Lake Twp.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
Memorial donations can be made to GBS/CIDP Foundation International, 375 East Elm Street, Suite 101, Conshohocken, PA 19428
