Obituary of Robert James Reed

Robert James Reed, age 81 of Hunlock Creek, passed away Saturday, October November 3, 2012 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness. His family was by his side as he passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, our Father.
He was born May 31, 1931 and was the son of the late Howard and Mary Gaughan Reed. He attended school at Hanover Area, and later served our country in the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 25 years as a courier for American Computer Enterprises in Wilkes-Barre.
Robert was an avid golfer. He loved playing the game with his lifelong friends John, Ray and Joe. He was a huge fan of the NY Yankees, never missing a game. Robert was a genuinely loving and caring man who possessed a quit witted sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of crossing his path during his 81 year journey on this earth. May Robert forever rest in peace.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years the former Gladys L Anderson.
Surviving are Sons: John Reed and his wife Samantha of Hunlock Creek, Robert Reed of Lake Silkworth; Daughters: Donna Swire of Hunlock Creek, Patricia Reed of Berwick; brother: Richard Reed and his wife, Marikae of Hanover Twp; Sisters: Jane Ann Uzdilla and her husband, Ted of Hanover Twp, Margaret Sweeney and her husband, Joseph of Silver Spring, MD: Grandchildren: Anyzeth Manalac, Bobbi Jo Swire, Jared Swire, Andrew Swire, Casey Swire, Derrick Wolfe, Jessica Reed, and seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks to please make a contribution to a charity of their choice.
A prayer service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek with Deacon Thad Wadas officiating.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 PM.
Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
