Obituary of Joanne Elaine Race

Joanne E. Race, age 61 of Monroe Township, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was born in Wilkes-Barre on June 30, 1957 and was the daughter of the late John, Sr. and Jean Smith Hoyt. Joanne resided in Monroe Twp. for her entire life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved playing and doting over her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Alice Williams and sister, Donna Wallace. Joanne is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dale Race; sons, Alan Williams, Jr. and his wife Kristi of Florida and Lee Race and his wife Stephanie of Monroe Twp.; daughter, Paige Grove and her husband Tyler of Reading; brothers, John Hoyt, Jr. and Joseph Hoyt, both of Monroe Twp.; sisters, Bonnie Binger of New York, Cheryl Stanbaugh of Monroe Twp., Deborah Holden of North Carolina, Suanne Hick of North Carolina, Kathi Derhammer of Monroe Twp., Andrea Delicati of Monroe Twp. and Pamela Weidman of Monroe Twp; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Meredith, Daylin, Harper, Lilly and Hadlee. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 12:00 pm from the Noxen Bible Baptist Church, 3622 PA-29, Noxen, PA 18636 with Pastor Ben Hubbell, officiating. Visitation will follow the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
