Obituary of Elizabeth Ruth Milbrodt

Elizabeth Ruth Milbrodt, age 93 of Dallas, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.
Mrs. Milbrodt was born in Wilkes-Barre on January 26, 1922 and was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Higgins Sorber.
Elizabeth graduated from Laketon High School in 1940 where she was the salutatorian and vice president of her class. She participated in basketball and the drama and library club. She was active in Girl Scouts for many years as a leader, and president of WCTU for Luzerne County. Elizabeth belonged to the John Birch Society and the Patriotic Brotherhood of America. She was a dedicated Christian who attended Outlet Free Methodist Church in Lehman where she taught Sunday school and organized various programs at the church. She loved old hymns and was able to recite Bible verses by heart. Floyd and Elizabeth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 1996. The dinner was held in their honor with family, close friends, and their wedding party.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Floyd Milbrodt, by brother, Robert Sorber, brother-in-law, Richard Weaver, sisters-in-law, Alberta Milbrodt and Frances Weaver and mother-in-law, Esther Weaver.
Elizabeth is survived by daughter, Tera Bombick and her husband Richard of Lehman; grandchildren, Rachelle Rogers and her husband Bob of Lake Twp., Reagan Hynick and her husband Jeff of Lake Twp., and Ryan Bombick and his wife Megan of Pittsburgh; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Megan Rogers, Jace and Kate Hynick, Samuel and Annabelle Bombick; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Dennis Gray, officiating.
Friends may call from 6 PM to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Lehman Center Cemetery, Lehman Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests if desired to make memorial donations to their favorite charity or church in Elizabeth's name.
