Obituary of William Thomas Martin

Bill Martin, age 45, of Dallas, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after a sudden illness. He was born on January 16, 1969, and was the son of the late Kenneth "Bubbles" Martin, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Dallas. He attended Dallas School District and graduated from West Side Technical School, Pringle in 1986. Bill owned and operated Martin's 24 Hr. Towing, Dallas, and took over the family business in 1992. Bill was a very knowledgeable and skillful tow operator and enjoyed challenging vehicle recoveries. He was proud of the service he provided to his customers over the years and was thankful for all the loyal customers he had. He was a loving father and husband. He loved watching his boys play football and taking them to practice. Bill instilled a loving and respectful nature in his boys and was so proud of his daughter for going to college and he admired her focus and determination. Bill's family meant everything to him. Bill enjoyed having pig roasts and parties at his grove, going to Las Vegas, hunting trips, auctions, demolition derbies and spending time with friends. He was a good-hearted man and had a great sense of humor. He was a member of the George M. Dallas Lodge, Dallas and Irem Temple Country Club, Dallas. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brother, Lawrence Martin, and nephew, Kenneth "Tugger" Martin. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, the former Heather Crossmon; sons, Billy, Jr. and Jonathan; and daughter Mary Deborah; brother, Kenneth Martin, II, Florida; nephew, Dylan Martin, Florida. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Dave Martin of the Cross Creek Community Church, officiating. Friends may call 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
