Obituary of Jean Denmon

Jean Denmon, age 86 of Noxen, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. Mrs. Denmon was born in Noxen on December 27, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Severin and Margaret Patton Traver. Jean graduated from the former Noxen High School. She and her late husband Stanley owned and operated a dairy farm in Noxen for many years which later became a vegetable farm. Jean was employed by the former McRory's Dept. Store, Shavertown and the former Charles Brothers Super Market, Tunkhannock. She loved working in the greenhouse during the springtime and tending crops after they were planted. She also enjoyed talking with people at the produce stand. Her friends and family meant everything. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean was a member of the Noxen United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Denmon, brother, Paul Traver and sister, Myrtle White. Jean is survived by sons, Lynn Denmon and his wife Patricia of Pottsville and Larry Denmon at home; grandchildren, Elise, Patrick, Amy and Annie; 4 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4:30 pm from the Noxen United Methodist Church, 3390 State Route 29 S, Noxen, PA 18636 with Rev. Linda S. Bryan, officiating. Friends may call Saturday at the church from 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM. Private interment will be in Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Noxen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Noxen UM Church, 3390 SR 29 S, Noxen, PA 18636.
