Obituary of Douglas Harry Lamoreux

Douglas Harry Lamoreux, age 69 of Dallas, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at home. Mr. Lamoreux was born in Kingston on December 8, 1944 and was the son of the late Rush and Elizabeth Lyons Lamoreux. Douglas attended Dallas High School and Doylestown Boro schools and later finished his education while in the service. He was a US Army Veteran serving with the 27th Infantry of the 25th Infantry Division. Douglas was a police officer for the Dallas Township Police Department for 26 years, retiring in 1996. He was a life member of Lodge 36 Fraternal Order of Police and the Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Douglas enjoyed working with wood crafts after retiring from police work and volunteering at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jack Lamoreux and sister, Audrey Lord. Douglas is survived by his wife of 31 years, the former Marian Mascali; brother, Irv Lamoreux and his wife Faye of Stillwater; sisters, Eileen Sichler and her husband John of Beaumont and Wilda Mitchell of Kunkle; step-children, Sue Grabowski of Shavertown, David Woolbert and his wife Marta of Nanticoke; grandchildren, Brittany Moorehead and her husband Anthony of Nevada, Jason Grabowski of Kingston, Megan, Zachary, Tabitha, and Andrew Grabowski, all of Shavertown, Calen, Cassandra, and Anthony Woolbert, all of Nanticoke; great-granddaughter, Emily Moorehead of Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 9:15 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM from the Gate of Heaven Church, 40 Machell Ave., Dallas, with Rev. Daniel Toomey, officiating. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Gate of Heaven Church, 40 Machell Ave, Dallas, PA 18612.
