Obituary of Edward Kyle Walmsley

Edward K. Walmsley, age 80 of Loyalville, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 12, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving wife and family after a lengthy & courageous battle with Parkinson's.
Ed was born on January 9, 1944 in Wilmington, DE to the late Edward and Stella Rinker Walmsley.
Following his graduation from DeLaWarr High School, he obtained his associate degree in accounting from Goldey Beacom College. Ed was an accountant for many years and attended Minquadale United Methodist Church in New Castle, DE.
Throughout his life, Ed cherished his family above all else. He met the love of his life Paulette in grade school, and they were happily married for 55 years. Together they built a beautiful life in Delaware and raised their 2 children. After retirement, they followed their hearts to the mountains in Loyalville PA. Ed adored his 7 grandchildren & took great pride in spending time with them while watching them grow & thrive.
One of Ed's greatest passions was his love of classic rock & you could always count on him to greet you with a favorite song & beverage.
Ed was known for his kind, loving, supportive demeanor, warm smile, baby blue eyes, and his deep appreciation for nature & the outdoors.
If you didn't find Ed at the gym, you could find him hiking, fishing, crabbing, boating, duck hunting or recreational off roading.
In addition to his love of music, Ed was a lifelong Boston Celtic & Green Bay Packer fan.
Ed always enjoyed traveling with his wife by his side & family trips to the beach or mountains.
Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Paulette Walmsley; son, Paul Walmsley and his wife Jennifer of Newark, DE; daughter, Cheryl McMullen and her husband Brian of Loyalville; grandchildren, Sydney, Reilly, Brett, Isabella, Logan, Kennedy and Kyle.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Carol Folk of the Loyalville United Methodist Church, officiating. There will be no calling hours.
All that knew & loved Ed, knows he would want each of us to remember him with a smile, a cold beer & some tunes. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Morgan Hills Restaurant and Golf, 219 Harveyville Rd., Hunlock Creek, PA 18621. Everyone is invited to join the family in celebrating Ed's amazing life & the remarkable man, loving husband, father, Pop-Pop & friend that Ed was.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Andres Diek his neurologist at Penn Medicine who cared for Ed since his Parkinson's diagnosis in 2018, the staff at both Compassus Hospice & Griswold Home Care for their kindness, compassion and wonderful care. Special thanks to Joe Delia, Carolyn Mickulik, Sharon Koppelman & Tom Crackett for everything they did to ensure Ed's final months & days were spent at home comfortably.
