Obituary of Irene Patricia Kasenchak

Irene P. Kasenchak, age 91 of Chase Manor, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the River View Nursing and Rehab, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Alden Station on April 11, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Martha Klinitski Broski. Irene graduated from Newport High School and then from Bellview School of Nursing, NY. She worked for many years at Nanticoke Hospital in the OR, Nesbitt Hospital, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, and did private duty nursing. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Family Practice, Nanticoke. Irene was a member of the St. Therese's Church, Shavertown where she was active in the Alter and Rosary Committee, Bereavement Committee, and the Prayer Ministry. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and attending her grandchildren's events. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, George; sisters, Helen Klingler and Regina Bukofski; brothers, Leonard and Walter Broski. Irene is survived by daughters, Karen Pavlico (James), Colleen Horvath (Barry), Lynn Manzoni (Butch), and Teresa Gill (David Adams); 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM from St. Therese's Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown, PA 18708, with Rev. James Paisley, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Therese's Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown, PA 18708.
