Obituary of Lorna Grace Jones

Lorna Grace Jones, devoted loving mother, grandmother, great-mother and friend died peacefully on April 17, 2023 at the age of 80 years old. She was born on January 17, 1943 to the late Gene and Carrie Hummell who formerly resided at Harveys Lake. Lorna was the youngest of 11 children and learned at an early age the importance of family. She married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Jones, and after high school they had three children together: Tracey, Ray and Kevin. After the untimely death of her husband, she started her career doing what she did best – caring for other people. Lorna drove children to school, did private home care and ended her career working at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. The most significant accomplishment was her love of family. She devoted her life to her three children and then to her grandchildren. As a special gift, her first great-grandchild was born in June of 2022, allowing four generations of her family to be together. Lorna showed her love in all she did through hugs and kisses, phone calls, cards in the mail, and trying every year to trick the family on April Fool's Day! She is survived by her children: Tracey Johnstone (Ken), Ray Jones (Tammy), and Kevin Jones (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Rebecca Markajani (Andrew), Josh Johnstone (Christina), Cassidy O'Donnell (Brendon), Miranda Kopa (Jerid), Owen and Parker Jones; great-grandchild, Harper Kopa; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Jane Pykus of Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston, officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Township.
