Obituary of Alice N. Kuczawa

Alice Ruth Naugle Kuczawa, 86, of Valley View, passed away February 12, 2023, at her home. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Kuczawa for almost 50 years who preceeded her in death in 2008. Alice was born February 13, 1936 in Pikes Creek, PA. She was the daughter of the late William Sr. and Mildred Naugle. Also preceding her in death were siblings Betty Remley, Doris Gordon, Louis Naugle, Lloyd Naugle Sr., William Naugle Jr. and Gerald Naugle Sr.
She is survived by her children: Gregory (Pamela) of Oswego, NY; Richard (Donna) of Lewisburg; Judy of Ashland; and Todd (Chris Nickelson) of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Sarah (Kyle) Mumper of Muncy; Wesley Kuczawa(Heather Laudenslager) of Mt. Joy; Charles Kuczawa (Diane) of Webster, NY; and Ashley Kuczawa of Oswego, NY; great-grandaughter Bailey Mae Mumper of Muncy.
After graduating from Lehman High School in 1955, Alice attended Geisinger School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse. She worked at Nesbit Hospital in Kingston before moving and working at Reading Hospital. She worked there until having children and then did many private duty nursing cases while raising her children. Later in her career she worked for the Miners' Clinic, screening and treating current and former coal miners until the clinic closed in 1999.
Alice enjoyed all types of music, playing flute, piano, and singing throughout her whole life. She passed that love of music along to each of her children. Alice sang with several choirs including Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley View, and most recently with The Schuylkill Choral Society. She served on the worship and music committee and church council at Trinity Lutheran Church. Alice's favorite role was that of a loving mother to her children, grandchildren, and great grand-daughter. She was a wonderful cook and loved preparing food for her family and growing beautiful flowers around her house.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 16 at the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home in Hunlock Creek. A time of visitation will precede the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Internement will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek, PA following the service.
