Obituary of Leland John Sobers

Leland Sobers, age 77 of Sweet Valley, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2022 at home, surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. He was born in Edwardsville on January 26, 1945 and was the son of the late John and Gertrude Sobers. Leland was employed by LCTA as a bus driver for 13 years and went on to renovate over 50 properties in Luzerne County. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Dompkosky. Leland is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Carol Smith; son, Robert James; daughters, Ann Sprouse, Jackie Filetti, Tammy Warrensford, Tracy Jansen and Christel Booth; brother, Glenn Sobers; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 1 niece and 2 nephews. A celebration of life service will be held privately with the immediate family. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
