I have had the honor of meeting several prominent Christian leaders - some who challenged me to think better, some who challenged me to live better, some who challenged me to dare bigger and believe more. Roland challenged me in all of these areas, but what touched me most was the way he opened up his heart and family. I've known a few pastors that would mention noteworthy people, but none who would introduce me to them like Roland. I've known a few pastors that would tell stories about their families, but none who would frequently bring his wife, child, mother and father over to my house for lunch. Roland brought a few chuckles with jokes but delivered joy with his presence. I am grateful for the opportunity that I had to watch someone who truly loved his God with all his heart, soul, mind, and passion, and who was humble enough to let me watch him love his family as well.
I know Heidi and Charissa will miss him deeply but will also find solace in knowing that Roland was greeted with the words "Gut gemacht, du braver und treuer Knecht!"
