Obituary of Maryann Blessner

Maryann Blessner, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Trucksville on October 20, 2021. She was born in Nanticoke on January 28, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Haas) Berger. Maryann was a graduate of Hanover Area. She went on to Wilkes College to study education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Later, she continued her education at the University of Scranton, receiving her Master's Degree in Education. Maryann worked as a dedicated teacher and school counselor at the Lake-Lehman School District, retiring in 2002 after 37 years of service. Maryann was an active member of Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, Beta Sigma Sorority, as well as volunteering her time with many community organizations. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leo, who passed away on September 6, 1994. Maryann is survived by her sister; Jean and husband John Gooch, Michigan; her close friends, Todd and Kathleen Weaver, and their children, which Maryannn often referred to as her grandchildren, Corey, Chloe, and Casey Weaver, all of Lehman; and several caring friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Carol Folk, Loyalville United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Franklin Twp.
