Obituary of Richard C. Matysik

Richard Charles Matysik, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2021 after battling health issues for the last few months. He was born on October 16, 1953 in Philadelphia and was the youngest of 4 brothers (Edward, James, Joseph) and 1 younger sister, Barbara, to the late Edward and Betty Mae Matysik (Armstrong). The Matysik family moved from Philadelphia to Northeast PA, eventually settling in Swoyersville. The boys were known for causing trouble at home and around the neighborhood. Richard met Joyce Daily, becoming a father at a young age and putting himself through college, double-majoring in English and Physics. He procured both degrees and was a few credits away from his masters degree in Physics in 4 short years. Working at multiple manufacturers during his career, he established himself as an engineer who would fix anything and a creative inventor with a registered patent. He was a brilliant writer of poetry and music, sharing his love of words and music with his family by playing the Beatles and teaching them how to play guitar and write music. The love and music shared and created by the family was the great love of his life and those creations will endure forever. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Edward and James Matysik. Richard is survived by sons, Richard Matthew Matysik (Amanda) and Joseph James Matysik; daughter, Connie Ledford (Roger); grandchildren, Hannah, James, Abigail, Sean, Michael and Samuel; sister, Barbara Besteder (Charlie); brother, Joseph Matysik (May); his lifelong partner, Ann Bocchiaro; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
