Alton F. Steele, age 92 of Sweet Valley, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Partridge Tippett Nursing Home at Wesley Village, Jenkins Township.
He was born in Mooretown on April 23, 1924 and was the son of the late William and Verna Blaine Steele.
Alton served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII, aboard the USS Ptarmigan as a Motor Machinist's Mate. He was employed at the Noxen Tannery and at Sterling Industries until his retirement in 1990. Alton served as a Deputy Game Warden, PA Game Commission for 27 years. He was a member of the Loyalville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Eleanor Steltz Steele who passed away in 2016, brothers, Arthur and Howard Steele and sister, Dorotha Calandrillo.
Alton is survived by daughter, Roberta Levandoski and her husband Paul of Harding; son, Brent Steele and his wife Trudi of Sweet Valley; grandchildren, Melissa LaPorte, Dylan, Patrick Levandoski, Lori, Andrea Jahn, Patrick, Erika Stehle, Robert, Wesley Rost and Rachel;great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Madison, Aiden Levandoski, Maci, Ella Stehle, Liam Jahn, Chase and Brianna Rost.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Carol Folk of the Loyalville United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Bethel Hill Cemetery, Fairmount Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Loyalville United Methodist Church, 602 Loyalville Rd., Harveys Lake, PA 18618.
